Will do a proper one with screencaps and quotage and all that if I can be bothered. Eventually. But for right now?
Have watched it twice so far AND I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE CONMAN!NEAL! He is a criminal afterall. Nice we finally get to see some of it.
Mozzie stole the art? I didn't guess.. I thought it was Alex. And I dunno through some goodness of her heart left it for Neal. Which okay would make that completely strange but that was my canon for some reason.
How does Neal keep beating these polygraphy tests?? And does that actually work? Although to be fair Peter was really asking all the wrong questions. And if Peter thinks he's lying then why bother with the polygraph tests because he knows that Neal is gonna lie?
I loved the umbrella scene! That's one way of slipping a tail. And all those guys with massive umbrella's and fedora's? Sweet! Haha I hope one of em ended up with $500.
I really liked the using Cindy as distraction. That was pretty funny. Trust on pervs to be pervs.
Art! Art! Such pretty pretty Art!
How wierd was that Neal and El scene though. Guess they're just not the type to hang out sans Peter. Which really makes moot a lot of fanfics atm. I always thought they'd have a closer friendship for some reason.
And personally I think Neal dithered quite a lot on whether to leave or not. He wasn't as enthusiastic about it as Mozzie was that's for sure and seemed almost reluctant at times. He wanted to say buy to June <3
Jones you total idiot, what kinda crappy tail are you? Shouldn't he have been in on the whole plan to fake Laurence. So why is he still following Neal. Idiot.
I liked the purple scarf. I completely dig the purple scarf. Very colourful businessman metro. I likey. Plus maybe it's more of a Gary Rydell thing?
I love the fact that Neal keeps a backup tie drawer at work! Tie drawer! :D
Other commentary that probably doesn't make sense because it's kinda related to a discussion post reply but..:
Using Nazi plunder is actually very realistic. Was reading this book on stolen artworks, during the WWII Hitler basically had the largest collection of artworks in history ever. It's basically what happens during war, steal the art and hoard it. To the victor goes the spoils. Short of robbing an entire museum, where else would you find such a large amassed collection of priceless art?
I mean aside from the "ohh Nazi's evil" factor which I'm getting, but to Neal he probably see's it as noble. Returning the artwork (at a price) to the world because they are masterpieces and shouldn't be left in the dust rotting. Which they would have been.
I don't think a lot of people are happy with this episode but I loved it! Loved loved loved and just made me all the more excited for the next episodes (a week?? really???? ;_____;)
I don't see this character assassination, perhaps someone could explain it to me.
If you think about it really, what does Neal have to stay? Wasn't he always going to run eventually? I think he would. S01 is him getting out of jail to find Kate, and well hopefully having found her, run away with her and live the better life. Okay S01 finale had the whole inkling of Peter could cause him to stay but Kate. Love of his life. And Peter was going to let him go. Neal was legit, he had papers. Peter came "to say goodbye" remember?
Then S02 was all about finding who killed Kate. Which was Adler and okay, ending resolved there. But at the end of it even from the very beginning it was all about the Long Con. Kate got in the way and then getting caught. But originally it was all about the final score. Which, hello now there it is.
Why wouldn't Neal run? At the end of the day Neal is a criminal (and I loved seeing it in this episode! Most of the time you just hear he's "the best" etc etc. Using his skills for good etc. It's the whole bad boy thing, Neal can be bad.)
Peter who doesn't trust him (with okay good reason) but I would've thought that after last season, he would've been, I dunno more trusting. I guess I'm just really Neal biased because everytime Neal's said "I don't like to you Peter" I take it at face value and just go "See Peter! You should've trusted him".
That very start of the episode I was all "OMG! He's running! Whut? No no no, Peter what are you doing don't catch him!" kind of feeling. And I thought it was fun. The twist was rather clever I thought.
And Mozzie?? I didn't expect it to be him, although should've figured. I thought it was Alex. But I guess she wouldn't really share.
I'm non shippery in this fandom so I like all the characters. All of em. I like Sarah and Alex and Kate. Sarah Ellis is cool okay, maybe it's just me transposing on a more effective Stephanie Plum onto her but I like that she's badass and doesn't take shit from Neal. Alex can hold her own too. And she's got cool grifter skills too. Kate annoyed me at first but she grew on me after watching Forging Bonds.
Mozzie was there from the start and he's still there. June who is awesome can be a continued acquaintance somewhere down along the lines.
El has and will always follow Peter as will Jones and Diana. I mean aside from the tracking anklet keeping Neal stuck there. What else? He's a conartist. He cannot con nor be an artist. I don't want him to be a full fledged FBI agent. That's Peter's role.
I loved the June's grand-daughter thing, distraction scenes are always fun and that?? Adorable! Go Cindy! Hope she comes back!
So this. This is perfect. We're getting to see the darker, clever sides of Neal Caffrey and I for one cannot wait.
Now if only they'd do some sort of Leverage crossover life would be perfect. Oh next week hurry up already!
